A walk from The Queen Bee Cabin to Athelstan’s Wood

– Distance: 1.6 miles

1. From The Hive, turn right towards Little Birch. Walk past Diggers Den on your right and the house next to it. After the house next to Diggers Den, on your right, you will see the gate in the picture below, open the gate and walk straight through, keeping to the left.

2. Walk over the style and follow the long narrow path to the bottom.

3. At the bottom of the path, walk over the style, continue walking till you see the small bridge over the brooke.

4. Walk through the bridge, you emerge into a field

5. Walk to the top of the field, veering to the right slightly.

6. Go through the gate below, and the next one, which comes up on your left hand side.

8. Just ahead but slightly to the left is yet another gate, go through it and you can see Little Birch church in the distance.

10. Walk to Little Birch church and turn right

 10A. The church is quite beautiful

 inside and outside and welcoming to walkers, you may want to pop in.

11.After turning right at the church, keep walking straight on for about half a mile or so, you will end up in Athestan’s wood.

12. The car park is the main entrance to the wood.
